Finally back into some real training, and was lucky enough to have some company in town to squat with.
For now my plan moving forward is doing a lot of brief squats with various bars and chains/bands. I won’t be using a ton of weight, due to limited spotters. As I get help, I will push, but I am going to be safe. If what I have done so far is any indication then I only need to be training consistently to be strong. After 20 years of doing this, I don’t need a lot of “heavy” work to put up solid numbers.
Bench this week I used the slingshot due to my pec. This will be the case in most sessions unless working off boards.
3x5 @ 405
close grip 2board 3x10 at 225
100 tri push downs, 4x25 hammer curls.
I managed to get some speed squats in this week, working up to about 550 and blue bands for doubles. I finished with pulls vs average bands off a deficit. I did 10x2 here, taking a set every 2 minutes.
My heavy squat this week went pretty well. I was lucky enough to have Beth, Tim, Jordan, and Nathan in town to train with. They are a hell of a crew and made it where I could squat pretty heavy for the first time in a few months. I decided I wanted to wear my suit bottom, just to get a feel for pressure again. Sucks for me is I got the stomach flu on Wednesday night and spent the next two days in the bed or on the toilet. I woke up Friday morning and decided to take a ton of Imodium and force down some soup. I didn’t want to waste a training session with people in town. The meds worked for the most part, other than I haven’t been to the bathroom in 5 days down haha! It did allow me to squat heavy.
I worked up to 1k on the camber bar, but it made me its bitch. Every squat was high, but I expected that with no depth call and it being such a long time without a suit. Either way, for a worn down old man, I will take it!
